Inform and Debunk! These two words would best summarize my mission with this blog. The concepts and commentary on a variety of medical topics, mostly orthopaedic in nature, are primarily targeted at the non-medical. However, I will write the occasional orthopaedic piece that is scholarly in nature. Expect the unexpected. Question the status quo.

About Me
I am an orthopaedic surgeon (not a podiatrist) who specializes in the care of adult foot and ankle problems. I have been blessed with a fantastic family, a fine medical practice, and a fair, but fun golf game. I discovered a gift I possess early in my career understanding that “accepted medical practice” is not necessarily what is best for patient care. Don’t get me wrong, I still perform the standard surgeries, read the pertinent literature, go to the medical meetings, etc. I just don’t consider, for example, the MRI or many surgeries we perform, to be the end all or the ultimate answer. In other words I question everything. As I look around and observe, I always ask myself "why is it done that way?". Unfortunately, when this question is asked out loud I often get in return "thats the way its always been done around here".
